Lollipops arched the sky

Through the course of the day

We leaned into midnight

Hushed pleasingly with its sight

The sound of skating

Is through our thoughts

The ornament of each spin

Curves our backs – Statuesque

And then we lied, to rest

But as I was almost sleeping

Untying a satin dream

I turned to see a suggestion

You smirked – a soundless mention

I closed my eyes, tired, dismissing

But what – with your strong convincing

Your romance is not to fend

And so, to blush

I bend

Anything

When you go for a walk

After the driving rain

I’ll trail behind you

Like the sunken mud

And every time the breeze blows cold

You shall hear me weep

But pretend as though

You don’t

When you sit outside

To farewell the day

I’ll lie above you

Like a restless star

And when you realize my beauty near

For an instant

You will care

But act as though

You don’t

And on the day of your picnic

When she matches the posies

I’ll slip in your pocket

Like a tiny clock

And as you whisper to her

I want time to stop

I shall try with my might

To not be still

But for you

I know

I will

You see, my love

Thee irony

Of loving one who is set free

And yet I find only more to adore

Loving you deep

Though confined to your shore

For someday you shall love me too

And I’ll wait until

You do

My dear Lord

I want to thank you today

Probably more than I can say

But I want to try

Thank you for all the love in my life

It’s wondrous

Inexpressibly pleasing

And in it alone, I have a home

Thank you for my husband

My best friend

I smile to think how you held me

In the midst of a shattered heart

As you whispered

Be patient, be still

And when I saw him

I saw your plan for me

I know I heard you say

See?

Thank you for my son

My bundle of perfection

How much charisma can he hold?

I’ve confirmed, it’s immeasurable

He is a tobbling, wobbling, masterpiece

I couldn’t have dreamt him up

I’ve a waterfall of emotions

Thanking you for his life

There is so much in my day

That I wish to say

Thank you for

My charming home

My warm shower

A snack, at any given hour

The breeze through my sheers

Even falling tears

For I know, pain has its purpose

Oh I’ve been in the trenches of sorrow

When I was not sure

I wanted tomorrow

Waking up in the wee hour

Reading Your word

As it spoke to me

To be still

For your will was being done

But with my racing thoughts

And monsters in my home

I wasn’t sure of anything

Except one thing

I knew You still loved me

My sins were all dismissed

And that lulled me to sleep

In calmness

And I praise You

For all this and more

I’m celebrating now

As I thank You, my Lord

You First

I love you mostly always

Sometimes

When you find me in the air
And pull me down, so strong
You take hold of my hand
And I crave to come along

You lead me to the spot
Where the moon sits
And when I see it with you
It’s as if it glows for just us
You wrap around me like
A favor, a blessing, an option – I could lose

But I want to win

And I begin to love you mostly always

Sometimes

All over again
